Minimum Eligibility Requirements
1. Student must be admitted in the UNM School of Engineering by June
2. Student must demonstrate academic ability:
Current (Continuing) SOE Student: Most recent academic transcript will be evaluated and student must be making reasonable progress toward any degree program in the UNM School of Engineering (this includes students in the SOE Pre-major Program).
New Transfer Student: Academic transcript from the most recent school(s) attended will be evaluated.
NOTES:
Incoming Freshman (current H.S. Seniors): must complete the SOE Incoming Freshman Scholarship application available at http://www.soe.unm.edu Click on Scholarships (Incoming Freshman).
Computer Science |Chemical & Nuclear Engineering | Electrical & Computer Engineering | Mechanical Engineering Students: You DO NOT need to submit a separate scholarship application for your departmental scholarships. A copy of the SOE scholarship application submitted by June 1st will be sent to your respective academic department to be considered for additional departmental scholarships.
Students in the Civil Engineering Department: In addition to applying to these SOE general scholarships, you must submit additional application(s) for any of the Civil Engineering Department Scholarship (per departmental rules). A separate application is required for each of the Civil Engineering Department scholarships and the application/deadline for these scholarships is available in the month of May in the Civil E web site at: www.unm.edu/~civil

Application Package - Checklist
1. Please complete and sign the application
2. Attach the following documents to your application:
.. PERSONAL STATEMENT: Personal Statement of approximately 300 words describing yourself, why you have chosen this career path and your future educational and career goals (double-spaced). ATTENTION: If you are a Junior, a Senior or a Graduate Student and would like to be considered for the International Test and Evaluation Association (ITEA) Scholarship, please add a paragraph in your application essay that addresses your involvement in testing and evaluation of hardware and software.
.. RESUME: Copy of your most current resume.
.. EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: Please include in your resume OR attach a list of previous awards, honors, scholastic achievements, memberships, offices held (and duration), and community service activities (up to 2 pages of extracurricular activity listing).
.. TRANSFER STUDENTS ONLY: Include a copy of your most recent unofficial transcript from the transferring college or university.
.. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ONLY: Submit financial need analysis form (available in CEC 2080) and a copy of your I-20
3. Retain a copy of the application package for your records.
