Director of Interdisciplinary Film and Digital Media Program
The University of New Mexico invites applications for the Director of the Interdisciplinary Film and Digital Media (IFDM) Program, starting in August 2008. This administrative appointment will come with a tenure-track/tenured academic appointment at the rank of Associate or full Professor in one or more schools or colleges at UNM, depending on the candidate’s qualifications. IFDM is an integrated interdisciplinary academic and research program designed to give students the necessary critical, creative, and technical skills to apply digital technologies in innovative and productive ways. The program links existing strengths at UNM in the College of Fine Arts, School of Engineering, College of Arts & Sciences, Anderson School of Management, and other schools and colleges. It provides students an opportunity to prepare for careers in the converging fields of digital media in science, art, and technology. The interdisciplinary breadth of the curriculum and its focus on critical, creative, technical, and collaborative learning in the curriculum was recognized by Sony Imageworks which named the University of New Mexico a partner in the Imageworks Professional Academic Excellence Program (IPAX). Director of ARTS Lab
The University of New Mexico invites applications for the Director of ARTS Lab (Arts, Research, Technology, and Science Laboratory), starting in August 2008. This administrative appointment will come with a tenure-track/tenured academic appointment at the rank of Associate or full Professor in one or more schools or colleges at UNM, depending on the candidate’s qualifications. The ARTS Lab (Arts, Research, Technology, and Science Laboratory) is an interdisciplinary center for fostering research and economic development at the intersection of art, science, business and technology. The ARTS Lab was established in 2005 under the State of New Mexico’s Media Industries Strategy Project to be a key catalyst for an advanced digital media industry in New Mexico. ARTS Lab seeks to support innovation and growth in areas such as film, new media, simulation, telehealth, game technology, image processing, scientific visualization, national security applications, and new markets for content. As a center for both technology and the arts, New Mexico provides a dynamic environment for programs that stimulate economic development. The heart of ARTS Lab is the "Digital Media Garage," a black box space outfitted to support performance, experimentation and research in digital graphics, sound and real-time immersive projection systems. The 'Garage' includes a 15’ diameter hemispheric domed projection surface (the G-Dome), a Vicon Motion Capture system, 30' x 40' Green Screen Studio, an AV production suite and more.

Department of Computer Science
Senior Computer Science Faculty Position
The Department of Computer Science invites applications for one tenured or probationary appointment leading to a tenure decision faculty position at the Associate or Professor level. Candidates should have a well-established and vigorous computer science research program, in an area including but not limited to systems and networks, theory and algorithms, software design and engineering, graphics and visualization, and AI and adaptive systems. We are a strongly interdisciplinary department and are particularly interested in applicants pushing the boundaries of computer science with other fields; preference will be given to candidates in the following fields: bioinformatics and biological computation; embedded systems and sensor networks; scientific computing and simulation; human-computer interaction and social computing; large scale data handling and mining; physics and computing; or game theory and economics.

Department of Chemical and Nuclear Engineering
The Department of Chemical and Nuclear Engineering seeks an individual to fill a probationary appointment leading to a tenure decision in chemical
engineering at the for ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR level to augment and strengthen its
commitment to excellence in teaching and research in areas related to biomedical engineering. The Department has a variety of
established research programs related to bioengineering. These include biomaterials,
bioanalytical micro- and nanosystems, tissue engineering, bioelectrocatalysis, biointerfacial
phenomena, optics and spectroscopy. Examples of new areas that would complement
existing strengths in bioengineering include, but are not limited to protein engineering,
directed evolution, combinatorial biomolecular synthesis, biomolecular separations
and analysis, and quantitative analysis of cellular systems, including systems biology

The Department of Chemical and Nuclear Engineering invites
applications for a probationary appointment leading to a tenure decision at the rank of Assistant Professor in
Nuclear Engineering. An earned Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering or a closely related field is a prerequisite for all
applicants.
We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong experimental background and expertise in radiation
detection and instrumentation in nuclear engineering and/or radiation sciences. Preference will be given to
applicants who demonstrate an interest in supporting the department’s research and educational thrust in nuclear
nonproliferation, security and safeguards. The department is home to the Center for Nuclear Nonproliferation
Science and Technology, an Academic Center of Excellence funded by the Idaho National Laboratory, and the
Nuclear Detection Laboratory, funded by DOE’s GNEP Readiness Program. The interested candidate will have

Instructors, Part-Time
Spring Semester, 2008 and Summer Semester 2008. Experienced engineers to teach courses in civil, chemical, electrical, computer, mechanical and nuclear engineering and experienced computer scientists to teach computer science. Minimum qualifications: master's degree in field plus 4 years applicable experience or doctorate in field. Openings dependent on course enrollment and availability of regular faculty. The School of Engineering will accept applications year round.
