Certificate Programs

 

Scientific and Engineering Computation Certificate

The Scientific and Engineering Computation (SEC) certificate program is an interdisciplinary certificate program open to professionals with graduate degrees in the following fields: Biology, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Earth and Planetary Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, and Psychology.
Its purpose is to prepare professionals to effectively use high-performance computing within their disciplines.

To complete the SEC program, students must:

  • Complete the two course sequence CS/Math 471 and CS 442/EECE 432

  • Complete 9 credit hours of courses from the approved list of SEC electives

  • Complete an advanced computation project (minimum 3 credit hours) under the direction of one of the associated faculty, and present it at an open forum.

Waste Education and Research Consortium Certificate

The education program of the Waste-Management Education and Research Consortium (WERC) offers a certificate in hazardous and radioactive waste management for those holding undergraduate or graduate degrees in engineering or related fields.
